If you want the mobility of a contractor table saw and the benefits of a cabinet saw for the job site a hybrid table saw is a nice compromise.
They’re powerful machines with a hybrid design that gives you the versatility of a contractor saw without all the mess.
These are the best hybrid table saws you can buy in 2024:
1. Grizzly G0771Z
At the top of the class for hybrid table saws in 2024 we’ve selected the Grizzly G0771Z. This is a beast of a machine that has some major advantages over the competition and it’s easily the best hybrid table saw under $2000.
It’s powered by a 2 HP motor and it spins at an impressive 3450 RPM, making short work of most cutting tasks. It also has a quick release blade guard for safety, a riving knife, a safety switch with a removable start key, a front locking fence with T-slots and a dust port for easy dust collection. This saw is made out of top-quality cast iron for stability and reduced vibration as well.
One of the biggest drawbacks with this saw is the price – it will set you back well over $1500 so it isn’t a great choice on a tight budget. We felt the build quality seemed a little disappointing on the casing for a top end table saw as well.
- 2 HP motor drives the blade at 3450 RPM.
- Includes several major safety features.
- Cast iron table surface.
- Expensive.
- Heavy and build quality is disappointing.
While we think the casing could be a little better on the Grizzly G0771Z for the price, this is a great machine overall. It has all of the safety features we expected, does a great job of collecting dust and cuts through almost any task you’ll challenge it with.
If you’re not worried about having to move this saw around because of its heavy weight, we think it would make a great addition to any shop or jobsite.
2. Dewalt DWE7491RS
For a truly portable option that’s great for home use or for small workshops, our top pick is the Dewalt DWE7491RS.
This is a saw that comes with a range of features. It uses a 15-amp electric motor and it operates at 4800 RPMs which allows the 10-inch 24-tooth carbide blade to cut through all kinds of timber including pressure-treated lumber and hardwoods.
The Dewalt DWE7491RS also features a blade guard to prevent sawdust from spreading and a built-in 2-inch dust collection port. It’s also equipped with telescoping fence rails and a flip-over ripping fence for narrow rip cuts. This machine includes heavy-duty wheels to make it easier to move from job to job as well.
At 90 pounds it may be a bit awkward to move on your own, but the wheels do make it manageable. Also, the rail adjustment handle can be difficult to move and may take some extra effort to budge if you haven’t turned it in a while. The throat plate lock can require some monitoring as it tends to work loose over time.
- 15-amp motor.
- 24-tooth carbide blade spins at 4800 RPM.
- Blade guard and dust collection port.
- Heavy-duty wheels for portability.
- Rail adjustment handle difficult to move.
- Throat plate lock may work loose with frequent use.
The Dewalt DWE7491RS is a powerful mobile saw that does a great job of combining some of the best features of a contractors saw and a cabinet saw. At a 90 pounds it’s a bit heavy, but the heavy-duty wheels still allow you to move it around without much difficulty.
We were also impressed with the blade lock and dust collection port. Combine that with all of the other great features of this machine and you have a hybrid saw that warrants some serious consideration.
3. Bosch 4100XC-10
Bosch has a well deserved reputation as a quality manufacturer of power tools so it’s not surprising that the Bosch 4100XC-10 has made it onto our list as one of the best hybrid table saws under $1000 for 2024.
This is a powerful machine driven by a 15-amp motor and capable of operating at a maximum of 4 HP. It operates at 3650 RPM making it ideal for both rip cutting and cross cutting. There are also some nice built-in safety features such as restart protection that prevents accidental startups. This machine is also on wheels so you can manouver it into place without a lot of trouble.
Like most table saws, this Bosch model does have a bit of weight to it coming in at 94 pounds. We were also less than impressed with the wheels on this saw – they’re relatively small for the size of the machine and that could lead to issues if you do plan on using it as a mobile unit for the jobsite. It can be a bit of struggle to raising it up into position to use once you have it where you want it.
- 15-amp motor with 4.0 HP.
- Operates at 3650 RPM.
- Built-in safety features such as restart protection.
- Small wheels not large enough for 94 pound weight.
- Difficult to raise into position.
For a saw priced under $1000, the Bosch 4100XC-10 is a good machine. It has a capable 15-amp motor that allows it to cut through most types of wood without any difficulty. We do think they should largen the wheelbase to make this saw easier to wheel around, but that isn’t a deal breaker.
4. Skil SPT99-11
If your budget is relatively tight, but the time has come to make the plunge from that trusty old circular saw and make an investment in a hybrid table saw that can be used both on the jobsite and in your home workshop the Skil SPT99-11 is a great choice.
It’s priced well under $1000 and it comes with many features you’d find on a far more expensive cabinet saw. It runs using worm drive gearing that will allow you to cut through up to 3 5/8″ depth and it has a 30 1/2″ ripping capacity.
The rack and pinion tracking system allows for smooth and clean cuts every time. It’s also outfitted with a 1-inch diameter dust port elbow to keep your work free from dust and a blade guard. The extra-large wheels mean you won’t have to overexert yourself to move it around either.
At 53 pounds it’s not one of the heaviest hybrid table saws on the market, but its still heavy enough that you have to use caution when moving it around. We were also unimpressed with the 1-year warranty this machine comes with. When compared with an industry average closer to 3-years, it falls well short of the mark.
- Cuts up to 3 5/8″ depth.
- Rack and pinion tracking system.
- Dust port elbow and blade guard.
When it comes to a portable table saw at a reasonable price the Skil SPT99-11 doesn’t disappoint. This is a great saw with only a couple of minor issues that prevented us from rating it higher. With the blade guard and a built-in dust collection elbow it has some features you typically find on more expensive contractor saws or cabinet saws.
5. Laguna F2 Fusion
If you’re willing to extend your budget over the $2000 mark, the F2 Fusion hybrid table saw is hard to look past – it would have been our first choice if it wasn’t for the hefty price tag.
It has a fully protected blade system that stops the spread of dust and a top notch dust collection system for picking up the rest. The blade itself is made for fine precision cuts using a 60 tooth configuration.
In our reviewing process it had one of the best cast iron cutting surfaces with an excellent fence system. There is a built-in emergency stop mechanism that prevents serious accidents from occurring as well.
We should point out this is quite a heavy machine though at 276 pounds and it doesn’t come equipped with wheels which makes transport difficult. The warranty was another disappointment for us at just 2-years – that’s a little underwhelming for a tool that retails for more than $2000.
- Covered blade and dust collection system.
- 60 tooth blade configuration.
- Cast iron cutting surface.
- Weighs 276 pounds and doesn’t include wheels for transport.
- Only a 2-year warranty.
While the F2 Fusion isn’t the most mobile saw we reviewed, it is one of the most precise cutting machines we came across so if mobility and budget aren’t major issues this should be at the top of your list.
The warranty could be better, but at 2-years it’s okay and if you take good care of this machine you should get years of use out of it.
6. Ridgid R4513
Our reviews wouldn’t be complete without the inclusion of the Ridgid R4513. This is another great choice under $1000 with most of the main features on our checklist. It’s powered by a 15-amp motor and uses a 10-inch blade with 50 teeth for nice smooth cuts every time.
The blade guard does a great job keeping the dust at bay and it comes equipped with an effective rail system. It also includes a bevel lock lever to adjust a bevel as needed depending on the nature of job you’re working on.
This table saw does have a set of wheels for portability, but they’re a touch on the small side which means you have to be careful not to tip it during transport. At 90 pounds you can tip it if you’re not careful and these small wheels can make it a challenge to keep it upright.
- 15-amp motor.
- 10-inch blade with 50 teeth.
- Rail system and bevel lock lever.
- Small wheel configuration.
For a relatively affordable table saw, the Ridgid R4513 is a quality choice. Larger wheels would have been better for stability, but you can work with the small ones it comes with if you’re careful when moving it around.
You get plenty of power from the 15-amp motor and it’s 50-tooth blade makes for some nice and smooth cuts.
How We Chose the Tools for Our List
Overall Power
The number one consideration when choosing a table saw is the power of the motor. We looked for models that had at least a 2 HP motor.
Motor Type
There are also a number of different motor designs in use for hybrid table saws today. The main one are a poly-V belt drive, a V drive or a wedge design. With the poly-V driving odors you tend to get less vibration as you cut.
The Blade
The blade type was another import selection criteria in our hybrid table saw reviews. The tilt of the blade, blade materials and number of teeth can all affect the quality of the cut and we took this into account as well.
Dust Collection Capabilities
One of the main items that distinguishes a cabinet saw from a contractor’s saw is the efficient way it collects sawdust. To be considered for our best hybrid table saws of 2024 a saw had to do a decent job of collecting or minimizing this dust.
Material and Design
Table saws can be made from different metals – usually cast iron, steel or aluminum. Many contractors prefer cast iron for stability and reduced vibration. We took this into consideration with our reviews as well.
Our Final Thoughts
Overall we were impressed with the range of great options currently available on the market in the hybrid table saw category.
The Grizzly G0771Z was our top choice, but anyone of the models we reviewed above will work well on any jobsite or in any small workshop.
If you’re looking for a new saw in 2024 there is no shortage of great options available to you.
